Gut Health (IBS & FODMAP)

Practical Nutrition Support for Better Gut Health
Digestive symptoms can have a significant impact on everyday life. Bloating, abdominal discomfort, changes in bowel habits and uncertainty about which foods may be contributing can make eating feel unnecessarily complicated.
At Ward Nutrition, our dietitians provide practical, evidence-based nutrition support for people experiencing Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), digestive concerns and Disorders of Gut-Brain Interaction.
Our goal is to help you better understand your symptoms, identify appropriate dietary strategies and maintain a balanced diet without unnecessarily restricting foods.
We Can Help With:
IBS & Digestive Symptoms
IBS can affect people differently, which means there isn’t one diet that will work for everyone. Your symptoms, eating patterns, lifestyle and individual food tolerances all need to be considered before making significant changes to your diet.
Our dietitians can assess your current eating habits and symptoms and help determine which nutrition strategies may be appropriate for you.
The aim is to improve symptom management while keeping your diet as varied, enjoyable and nutritionally balanced as possible.

The Low FODMAP Diet
For some people with IBS, a low FODMAP diet may be recommended as part of managing digestive symptoms. FODMAPs are certain types of carbohydrates that can be poorly absorbed in the digestive system and may contribute to symptoms in susceptible people.
A low FODMAP diet isn’t intended to be a permanently restrictive diet. It generally involves a structured process of reducing certain foods before gradually reintroducing them to identify which FODMAPs and amounts you personally tolerate.
Working with an appropriately trained dietitian can help you follow this process correctly while maintaining good nutrition.
FODMAP Reintroduction & Finding Your Tolerance
The reintroduction stage is an important part of the FODMAP process.
Rather than continuing to avoid a long list of foods, your dietitian can help you systematically reintroduce different FODMAP groups and understand which foods actually contribute to your symptoms.
The long-term goal is to develop a personalised and varied diet with as few unnecessary restrictions as possible.
Experienced Gut Health Dietitians
Nadia Fathinia has completed specialist training in the Low FODMAP Diet through Monash University and works with clients experiencing IBS and other Disorders of Gut-Brain Interaction.
Our approach focuses on translating nutrition science into practical recommendations you can use in everyday life.
This may include meal planning, food substitutions, label reading, symptom management strategies and guidance through food challenges and reintroductions.
More Than Just Avoiding Foods
When digestive symptoms occur, it can be tempting to remove more and more foods from your diet. But excessive restriction can make it difficult to meet your nutritional requirements and can make eating increasingly stressful.
At Ward Nutrition, we look at your overall diet and individual circumstances rather than simply providing a list of foods to avoid. Our aim is to help you understand what works for your gut, while maintaining a nutritious and enjoyable way of eating.
