Practical Nutrition Support Tailored to Individual Needs

Good nutrition can make an important difference to health, independence and quality of life. For people living with disability, however, eating well can sometimes involve additional challenges.

At Ward Nutrition, our Accredited Practising Dietitians provide individualised nutrition support for NDIS participants and people living with disability across Central West NSW.

We work with participants, families, carers and support teams to provide practical advice that considers each person’s health, abilities, preferences, living environment and individual goals.

We Can Help With:

  • Maintaining a healthy weight
  • Unintentional weight loss and malnutrition
  • Poor growth and nutritional intake
  • Fussy or selective eating
  • Food sensitivities and aversions
  • Food allergies and intolerances
  • Diabetes and chronic health conditions
  • Constipation and diarrhoea
  • Texture-modified diets
  • Nutrition support for swallowing difficulties
  • Wound healing and increased nutritional requirements
  • Oral nutrition supplements
  • Enteral nutrition and tube feeding
  • Meal planning and preparation
  • Building practical food and cooking skills

Personalised Nutrition Support

Every person’s nutritional needs are different. Our dietitians take the time to understand the individual, including their health, food preferences, daily routine, living arrangements and the challenges they may experience around food and eating.

From there, we can develop realistic strategies that support good nutrition while working towards the participant’s individual health and nutrition goals.

Making Everyday Nutrition Easier

Nutrition advice needs to work in everyday life. Depending on individual needs, our dietitians can provide practical support with:

  • Meal and snack planning
  • Simple recipes
  • Grocery shopping and shopping lists
  • Choosing suitable food products
  • Understanding food labels
  • Developing cooking and food preparation skills
  • Eating away from home
  • Finding suitable alternatives for restricted diets
  • Improving the nutritional quality of meals

The aim is to make healthy eating more manageable while supporting independence and participation wherever possible.

Working With Families, Carers & Support Teams

Nutrition care often works best when everyone involved has a clear understanding of the individual’s needs. Our dietitians can work collaboratively with participants, families, carers, support workers and other health professionals to develop practical nutrition strategies that can be consistently supported at home and in the community.

This can be particularly valuable where a participant has complex nutritional requirements or relies on others for shopping, meal preparation or feeding support.

NDIS Nutrition Support

Ward Nutrition provides dietetic services for self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants. Support can be tailored to the participant’s individual needs and goals, with services available through face-to-face consultations, telehealth and home visits where available.

Our dietitians can also provide appropriate nutrition recommendations and documentation to help participants and their support teams understand ongoing nutrition needs.

Home Visits & Telehealth

We understand that attending a clinic isn’t practical for everyone. Ward Nutrition provides flexible options including telehealth consultations and home visits in selected areas across Central West NSW, alongside our clinic-based services.

Our team provides services across communities including Orange, Bathurst, Cowra, Dubbo, Parkes, Molong and Canowindra, with availability depending on the practitioner and service required.

Support for Complex Nutrition Needs

Some disabilities and health conditions can make meeting nutritional requirements more challenging. Our dietitians can provide support for people who require modified food textures, nutritional supplements or enteral nutrition, as well as those experiencing poor appetite, inadequate intake or other complex nutritional concerns.

Where appropriate, we work alongside the participant’s broader healthcare team to help provide coordinated care.
